Dryport Conference

October 21-22, 2010

Edinburgh, Scotland

Dryport Conference is organised by SEStran and the NMU lead partner - Transport Research Institute (TRI). The main topic of the conference is "Intermodal Strategies for Integrating Ports & Hinterlands". This innovative event will focus on examining the critical role of inland terminals in their relation to ports, encompassing issues of integration, collaboration, competition and associated strategies of hinterland access.

The conference is organised as part of the Dryport project. The European project known as Dryport is examining the critical role that dryports can play in maximising the capacity and efficiency of sea ports, while also shifting traffic off the roads and on to rail or inland waterway.

Keynote speakers from around the world will provide insights into intermodal strategies to integrate ports and hinterlands in different economic and social contexts. Industry professionals with experience of dryports and intermodal operations will present in parallel with academics, so that the latest developments in the industry can add specific context to the academic analysis. Keynote speakers include representatives from Scottish Parliament, UNCTAD, ESPO, national development agencies and ports, as well as dry port managers, rail operators and senior academics.

NMU partner Rickard Bergqvist of University of Gothenburg will be presenting at this conference.
