Annual Conference 2009 of the North Sea Region Programme

"Sustainable Innovation" is the theme of the conference and the event focused on the social and environmental dimensions of innovation in the context of transnational cooperation and the European policy framework.

The conference marks the main annual event of the North Sea Region Programme 2007-2013, which aims to expand the scope of transnational cooperation and facilitate relevant and innovative projects for the North Sea Region.

Our NMU project was presented by Gordon Wilmsmeier (Edinburgh Napier University) who gave a keynote speech and Susanne Neumann (Universities of Applied Sciences Kiel and Bremen) who held the presentation "Innovative concepts for transnational education and research in maritime transport".

The event provided stakeholders at all levels in regional development with a chance to explore challenges and possibilities for the future. It also gave an insight into the issues that project developers and decision makers in the participating countries are challenged with in relation to the Programme and EU-cooperation.
