Maritime Transport Edinburgh October 2009

Maritime Transport: Scotland's economic growth opportunity
October 5, 2009
Edinburgh, Scotland

This major event organised by Mackay Hannah, and supported by the NMU lead partner Transport Research Institute (TRI), was held in Edinburgh on Monday 5th October 2009.

The conference:

  • Focused on Scotland's key maritime infrastructure developments included in the Scottish Government's National Planning Framework
  • Further explored how these specific developments fit into evolving policy (EU and national)
  • Considered possible implementation and financing options together with supporting research and development projects at domestic and transnational levels.

The conference was structured around four plenary sessions allowing for plenty of time for questions and discussion and included presentations from Scottish Government (Keynote Speaker: Stewart Stevenson MSP, Minister for Transport, Infrastructure & Climate Change) as well as key players in maritime transport and the freight industry in Scotland. It also included an input from speakers and delegates from the EU.
