NMU presented in full strength at IAME Conference 2009

The NMU’s lead partner, the Transport Research Institute from the Edinburgh Napier University, was presented in full strength at the IAME Conference 2009: Prof. Kevin Cullinane, Prof. Alf Baird and Gordon Wilmsmeier gave presentations. This conference of the International Associated of Maritime Economists is the most important academic event in the global community of maritime economists.

 

Prof. Kevin CullinaneProf. Kevin Cullinane gave his keynote presentation on the role of shipping in green logistics, looking at the environmental impact of shipping and what could be done about it now and into the future.

Prof. Alf BairdProf. Alf Baird presented on the topic of private equity investments in the European ferry market. Prof. Baird examined the structure of private equity firms (PEFs) and gave a series of recent case study examples detailing how European ferry firms had been bought by PEFs.

Gordon WilmsmeierGordon Wilmsmeier presented on two separate themes.
The first, presented with Prof. Inmaculada Martinez-Zarzoso (Universidad de Jaime I), looked at trade responses to freight rates and the downward trend of Latin American maritime trade.
